Craig Kelly 1966-2003

Craig Kelly taught me a lot,  He wasn't like a school teacher telling me what to do or anything.  He had a gift of teaching without really talking that much.  I learned so much from being with him and snowboarding behind him.   I also watched "Smooth Groove" over 1,000 times the first year i got into snowboarding.

This year 2013 was the 10 year of his passing, and I was fortunate enough to be invited up to Baldface in BC for an amazing trip.  Jeff P and the crew at Baldface have taken an idea that Craig had and made it really come to life.  The place is like Disneyland for Powder shredders.   Terje, JG and Tim Manning went up there with me , and we were also joined by Travis Rice and Mark Landvick.  We put up an amazing Cross above Baldface and shredded pow with Friends.   That's what Craig was all about.

It was a pleasure to take my buddy Terje Haakonsen out to some of my Favorite Backcountry spots in Lake Tahoe.  I haven't ridden with Terje in almost 8 years, but we didn't miss a beat connecting with our vision of snowboarding.   We both like to just ride good , fun terrain that isn't life threatening.  After watching the grace and flow of my Norwegian friend i am convinced that he is the best snowboarder that has ever lived.  I'm not talking about the jumping and spinning the goes on,  but the on the snow board control this man has.  It was truly a Honor :-)

Analog had its 4th "Design Unlikely Feature Event up at Bear Mt.  This is a event where people can submit drawings of a Feature they want built.  William Alexander from Sacramento had the winning feature this year,  and Clayton and the Crew at BEAR Mt built it perfect as always.  For the Riding event Bear setup all 4 of the DUF features and we had a big Jam session.  Kids under 15, Ladies, and 16 and over battled it out.  There was some incredible riding and some crazy bails.
